Why did you choose the X-Pyr again?
I think crossing the Pyrenees in this format is a challenge for every hike & fly pilot and is an unforgettable experience.
How was your race the last time?
A great experience despite the poor weather conditions for flying.
What did you learn during the last edition?
You should always make the best of every situation, in such a dynamic competition the situation can change quickly.
What does your typical training week consist of?
Has your training regime changed since the last X-Pyr?
At the last edition we had very difficult flying conditions. In addition to endurance training, the focus is increasingly on flying in difficult conditions in order to be better prepared.
What changes have you made to your equipment for this edition?
Since we ran a lot of kilometers, it was important that the equipment was light and that the backpack was well suited for running.
Apart from flying far and walking little, what will your strategy be during the race?
Choosing clever routes and making good tactical decisions.
What excites you most about participating in the X-Pyr again?
Crossing the Pyrenees in competition with some of the best hike & fly pilots in the world.
What worries you the most about the event?
If you lose the flow and lose sight of the goal.
Is there anything you like to see (or not) in the route?
The area is so varied, there is something for everyone.
Do you have a favourite part of the Pyrenees?
I think Andorra’s landscape is really beautiful.
How do you know your assistant?
My supporter is my girlfriend and she has accompanied me in several competitions, I couldn’t imagine better support.
What are your assistant’s main strengths?
She is extremely good at navigating and is always in the right place.
What advice would you give a rookie in this event?
To focus intensively on preparing for the competition because I unfortunately didn’t have enough time to do it my first time and had to improvise a lot during the race.
Anything else you like to comment?
It is an honour for me to be part of this edition of X-Pyr. I’m really looking forward to being able to show my best to complete the route as quickly as possible in a hike & fly style to reach the finish.
